Never Attack First. Only use your martial arts training in self defense, or when defending the weak. 

The 5 Codes of Tang Soo Do

1. Loyalty to Country — also refers to community, neighbor, society. 
2. Obedience to Parents — also refers to father, mother, elders, teachers, instructors.
3. Honor of Friendship — also refers to associates, colleagues, brothers, sisters, fellow students.
   
4. No Retreat in Battle — also refers to responsibilities, jobs, duties, goals, ideals. 
   
5. In Fighting Chose with Sense and Honor — also refers to the use of Tang Soo Do to defend against injustice. 
   

The 7 Tenets of Tang Soo Do

1. Integrity — students should strive to be honest, noble and upright. 
   
2. Concentration — focusing the mind is the bedrock of progress. 
   
3. Perseverance — the highest goals are always found beyond hardship and struggle. 
   
4. Respect and Obedience — students must be tolerant and sincere towards others, and must be able to adhere to the rules of the dojo. 
   
5. Self Control — you must understand and control the self in order to make progress. 
   
6. Humility — humility is the winning power against arrogance. Always correct yourself before others. 
   
7. Indomitable Spirit — to succeed in Tang Soo Do and life, you must possess a steady and unflinching determination.
